I’m not a huge fan of Korean Hip Hop, but Beenzino is one of those artists that I definitely check for whenever he drops something new cuz I know more often than not, it’ll probably be dope. Not understanding half of what he’s saying isn’t really an issue for me, and it shouldn’t be for anyone else who bumps say, “Panda”, on the regular.
‘Zino just dropped 12, an adventurous new album of bangers that seems to draw influences from A Tribe Called Quest, Beck and Disclosure… that that Future! “Life In Color” teased the album’s release and the video is his love song art museum, a trippy and colorful journey that includes a visual shoutout to De La Soul. “Life In Color” recalls late 90’s drum ‘n’ bass which sounds nothing like the smoothed out R&B vibe of the song that introduced me to Beenzino, 2014’s “How Do I Look?”
When you need a break from the trap obsession of American hip hop, go ‘head and press play below on what’s happening a bit further east. If you like what you hear, you can cop Beezino’s full album here: http://kpoptown.com/home-music-cd-dvd/36725-beenzino-12-cd-8809484114829.html
