Ciara featuring 2 Chainz - “Sweat”

I mean… I guess.  I truly am rooting for Ciara cuz well, she’s still really trying to make the stardom thing happen.  Besides, it would be nice if someone other than Bey or RiRi was enjoying a little time in the coveted spotlight of mainstream success.

This new single “Sweat” though?  Mmmm yeah, I don’t think this is the comeback that she’s hoping(?) for.  It’s not bad, but it ain’t great either.  Cici drones on tunelessly about a lot of nothing before 2 Chainz contributes a couple of lines about pheromones and weaves.  “Sweat” is cut from the same cloth of past hits “Oh” and “Ride”—- a mid-tempo joint that, at best, will be the early hours soundtrack to your coat checking and/or first drink getting at the club.

Perhaps the days of staged paparazzi nail salon pics and fake lunches at The Ivy with a Karadashian aren’t over yet, but I’m gonna keep pulling for her.  Ciara’s new album One Woman Army is (supposedly) due later this year.  However, if you recall the Fantasy Ride debacle, then you’ll know that you should pencil in that album release date.
