I’m a little late with posting this edition of New Joints, but oh well…

Animated band Gorillaz return with a single that not only features Mos Def(!), but Bobby “If You Think You’re Lonely Now” Womack as well?!?!??! For that reason alone, it deserves to be heard.  Craig David is apparently all set to release an album that will either be a cover of Motown classics, or it will be songs that sample Motown classics… not sure.  Anyways, this is the first single and it dresses up an old Four Tops hit with some 2010 UK radio-friendly dance beats.  Ludacris and Justin Beiber?  Really?  Sadly, yes.  I guess the Crash residuals, cognac checks, and Disturbing Tha Peace royalties ain’t payin’ the bills if Luda is doin’ “collabos” with tweeners rocking lesbian-chic haircuts.  And yes, I do detest Nicki Minaj, but I was intrigued by the fact that she sampled Annie Lennox’s “No More I Love You’s” for this one.  Elsewhere in “These Girls Are Still Giving It A Go” News, we have Lumidee and Cassie.  The Lumi song is OK I guess but poor Cassie has easily leaked over a half dozen tracks already to drum up interest in this rumored Electro Love album, and nothing seems to have caught on yet… po thang.

Also, you can check out the Download To Donate For Haiti album below which features unreleased music from Lupe Fiasco, Alanis Morissette, Kenna, Linkin Park, Peter Gabriel and more!  “New” tunes, a good cause… you can’t lose!
