I do love me some Robyn and although there have been some bright spots in this Body Talk multi-part album release project (“Dancing On My Own”, “Hang With Me”), it has, by and large, been a bit a of a letdown for me. What I liked about Robby in the past was that, even within a pop context, she was always switching up styles to soundtrack what were often rewind-worthy one-liner lyrics and/or well woven spun tales of heartbreak. Right now she seems to be stuck in an electropop hole that she either can’t or doesn’t want to get out of.
The good news is that Body Talk Pt. 1‘s “Dancing On My Own” will soon get a proper promotional push here in the U.S. while the sassy Swede unleashes a handful of remixes for “Indestructible”, an acoustic track from Pt. 2 whose dancier incarnation will appear on Pt. 3, due November 29th. I much prefer the original acoustic version of the song, but perhaps these mixes will be the light to spark the interest La Rob’s material for those of you not familiar with her already.
